Downey House, Rm 113“Growing Confucian: Ancient Philosophy for Education Today”
Please join the Department of Classical Studies for a series of lively discussions and curious encounters across global antiquity! Our second dialogue will feature Professors Steve Angle and Mira Seo discussing comparative and applied philosophy in the popular course, “Living a Good Life”; the 12th century Confucian Zhu Xi on reading; and the 14th century Empress Renxiaowen on female rulers as educators. How and why should we read ancient philosophical traditions today?
Co-sponsored by the Departments of Classical Studies, Philosophy, and the College of East Asian Studies. In affiliation with the Fries Center for International Education Week.
